The Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is a crucial benchmark for assessing the physical readiness of Marines. Passing this test is not only a requirement for maintaining your status but also a testament to your dedication to physical fitness. This guide will delve into the specifics of the PFT, offering a clear understanding of the components and providing a helpful calculator to estimate your PFT score.

Understanding the Marine Corps PFT

The PFT consists of three primary events:

  • Pull-ups: This measures upper body strength. The goal is to perform as many repetitions as possible within a set time limit.

  • Crunches: Assessing abdominal strength and endurance, you'll perform as many crunches as possible in a minute. Proper form is crucial for an accurate count.

  • 3-Mile Run: This tests cardiovascular endurance and stamina. Your time is recorded to determine your score in this component.

Each event is scored individually, and these scores are then added together to obtain your overall PFT score. Higher scores indicate better physical fitness.

Calculating Your PFT Score
